Why I think it is important to maintain a yoga practice right now

Why I think it is important to maintain a yoga practice right now

In the first month of the world starting to slow down, I experienced shock. My travel plans canceled out of fear and the unknown. My in person interactions came to a halt. Basically, every part of me froze (that is a luxury I realize that I had). My time used to be spent in motion— teaching, running, moving, studying, planning, building, etc. My time turned into stillness— sleeping, eating, and sleeping some more. Some people stepped into the spotlight to lead virtual offerings. Some people stepped into their shadows to meditate in stillness. My body could do neither.

We don’t know how long this period of “social distancing” or “self isolations” will be. And in some ways that unknown builds extra stress for us. With the many questions, is there anything we can bring a solution to?

I took action in joining a group call with a Women’s Circle. We each had a moment to be heard by the group and ended the call in a grounding meditation. The next day, I hopped on a call with a friend for the chance to be guided through a meditation and to receive support by her simply being present. Not surprisingly, the combined two hours feeling supported on those calls made a difference to my week. I gained a greater sense of clarity, motivation, and desire to make the best of the present. I felt more nourished to support my community and pass on the energy I had gained.

So how can a private, online guided yoga practice help you?

Accountability from me helps you stay committed to your health (mental health & physical health)

Guidance for a yoga flow that fits your level and goals

Comfort that you can practice in your own space (set aside a space that lets you lay down a yoga mat), without the worry of today’s events from interacting with others in person, and at a time that fits your schedule best.

Nourishment— energetic nourishment from the practice and teacher to build strength and grounding during these uncertain times. An hour for you to pause from the regular day and care for yourself.

Value– there are many free resources available for yoga, movement, and meditation; however, it is challenging for the student to piece together various resources as you grow. With a private practice, the sessions are designed for YOU. Your sessions grow along your journey progression.
