Yoga Teacher with Personal Training Experience

Hello! My name is Emily Basford, and I am a NASM certified personal trainer, yoga instructor, sound healing session provider, and guided meditation teacher. My experiences and education collectively support clients in ways they may not have expected. Being a teacher and student, I understand the value in integrating education and passion in helping to guide the student. A large part of teaching is leading with courage from the heart and I believe conveying the same type of love makes for an amazing teacher.

My yoga training was conducted in Rishikesh, India over a three-month period. We were instructed in asanas, meditation, and structural integrity of posing. Often, when performing the poses a fault in form could lead to injury. We were taught deep meditation techniques and how to apply them to our students. How can you lead people to the depths of their mind if you have never been?

NASM the National Academy of Sports Medicine provides the CPT home study, with optional hands on training, through their web portal. They are a highly recognized and respected certifying body with their literature used as the basis for several college courses.

My Past Life Regression Hypnosis Training was learned on-site with Dr. Brian Weiss at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, NY. I was taught the basics of inducing hypnosis, how to lead a guided session, and how best to support those sessions. A great deal of mental barriers can be overcome with giving your intuition a chance to shine through.

I am also an avid attendee of weekend retreats focusing on self love, life’s purpose, and the powerful connection of community.

Personal training

Education about the muscle connections in the body and the stages of training somebody. 

Did you know there are specific stages you train somebody in to build confidence and to prevent injury? There are also specific ways to read somebody’s body to understand where muscle imbalance is.

Yoga asana training

Education to understand the important alignment cues and feelings within the main yoga poses. 

Did you know that the rate of yoga-related injuries is rising? This can be prevented by correctly performing the pose as well as listening to your body to rest or challenge the pose when ready. It is important to do the poses correctly because if you repeatedly hold a pose incorrectly, you can eventually injure yourself. Having the help of a teacher can guide you to expand your boundaries and realize a new potential within the physical asana and that expands out into real life or expanding your potential.

Did you know that while there is a recommended structure to a yoga sequence, there is also an art in creating the flow? Finding a teacher that you connect with can inspire you to commit to the healthy practice as well as to challenge yourself to new levels.

Yoga meditation training

Experience of the transformative effects of different meditation practices. I felt for myself the true fear of diving deeper into my mind. How can you lead people somewhere you’ve never explored? 

Did you know that meditation has different effects based off your practice and intention? Understanding and connecting with the intentions are important. Being committed, compassionate, and curious allows you courage to dive deeper within yourself and have transformative experiences.

Past Life Regression Hypnosis Training

Education about the fundamentals of inducing a relaxed state, guiding a hypnosis session, and supporting an insightful experience. Tremendous healing can occur in an altered mental state, as you are more relaxed to hear the honesty of your intuition (or higher self).

Education about self love, life’s purpose, and community connection

Did you know that loving yourself is the most powerful act you can do in life? A lot of people experience loneliness, feeling lost, or wishing to belong to a community. I’m definitely guilty of that. The times in life where I am loving myself most, enjoying time to sing/dance/run/meditate/paint are experiences where I remember how much fun I can have with myself and how I am my own best friend.
